In a prime location in Blackburn North next to the high school and on the exterior of a small shopping complex called Blackburn North Square.
This store is quite large and whenever I visit there appears to be plenty of volunteers but as an Shop historian, I also know they will always need an extra pair of hands. At one end there is a large locked glass cabinet which stores all those lovely treasures that will sell for a higher price like this beautiful china (above).
I had to have a giggle at the writing on many of the displays because it’s almost exactly the same as my mother who is in her 80’s (and an avid Op Shopper too), so I suspect that many of the volunteers are or have been of that age. For me, that adds an air of authenticity, something of those days when Op Shops were where you went for a dress up party, to grab a few extra glasses for a party or find some good magazines.
Because f it’s size, the layout is generous and plenty fo room to move around. Boxes and tubs are well labelled and it’s easy to find things.
I spied a nice big crate that had blankets and towels just for dogs and wish more people could donate items to not just Op Shops but also to local pounds and animals shelters.
