Eastland Farmers’ Market

Tagged: , , , ,

At first I thought it was an unusual place for a Farmers’ Market set amongst the multi national stores, mass-produced products, imported clothes and large-scale farmed food. But I changed my mind. It is in fact the perfect place for a Farmers’ Market to show others how you can connect with where your food comes from and the growers. And so the first Eastland Farmers’ Market began on the most delightful autumnal day in April.

This market has been established in partnership with Eastland Shopping Centre and has been cleverly sited along the Melbourne Street Town Square which fronts Maroondah Highway and will have plenty of passing trade for those exploring the popular eateries around the Town Square.

Showcasing all that The Yarra Valley has to offer, you will find a great mixture of wares. With around 30 stalls today (but I’m sure there will be more into the future) you can browse:

  • Fresh Fruit & Veggies
  • Cut flowers
  • Bread and baked goods
  • Eggs
  • Jams, preserves and honey
  • Olive oil
  • Teas
  • Tonic
  • Caviar
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Macaroons

An example of the quality of the products is the picture above. Happiness In A Teacup who focus on quality, organic loose-leaf tea and is hand blended. Their aim is to  inspire customers to experiment, try new blends and try new preparation techniques at home. You can find them on Facebook here.

As always I’d recommend you bring your own bag or trolley along so plastic bags don’t have to be used. Also try to bring smaller notes. We all know that the ATM’s dispense $50’s and stall holders are prepared for that but when so many people turn up with larger notes it becomes problematic for them.
