Whether you live atop the mountain or at the bottom, it’s worth a visit to this market at the base of the Dandenongs held every Saturday and Sunday which has been running for over 40 years.
Brimming with fresh produce and plants, this is a great market you can visit regularly to top up the pantry and fridge or pick up those plants you need for the garden. These Xanthorrhoea pictured (below) are an example of the quality available.
I counted 30 stalls when I was there today and one of them was selling mulch! (pictured below) Yep, never seen that before but have to say, if you are a local, this is probably something you source regularly to help your garden over the summer months.
There are food vans selling Japanese, ice cream, cakes, donuts and other hot food with plenty of chairs and tables to sit and enjoy your food.
As always I’d recommend you bring your own bag or trolley along so plastic bags don’t have to be used. Also try to bring smaller notes. We all know that the ATM’s dispense $50’s and stall holders are prepared for that but when so many people turn up with larger notes it becomes problematic for them.
