Elwood Farmers’ Market

Tagged: , , , ,

Another great local Farmers’ Market in the hipster suburb of Elwood. On a beautiful autumn morning, I waded my way through the autumn leaves lining the pathway leading into the grounds of Elwood College. There were some construction works on so it’s relocated to the rear of the property however, it won’t be long before it’s back in its original spot.

With around 40 stalls selling beautiful home-made / hand-made produce, this is a quality market that lives up to the reputation of the Victorian Farmers Market Association. Here are some of the items available:

  • Organic chocolate
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Fresh bread and bakery items
  • Free range Pork
  • Free range Waygu Beef
  • Apples
  • Fresh berries
  • Happy Fruit – fruit and dried nuts
  • Bone Broth – The Brother Sisters soup
These tasty apple treats meant I finally know which is my favourite apple – Pink Lady

I hear on the rumour mill that locals would like the market to be fortnightly and by the number of people attending, it may just work. Stop by the information tent and talk to the Market Managers and share your thoughts and ideas. They are open to ideas and suggestions.

If you are looking for something to eat there are plenty of tasty treats on offer:

  • Gozlemi
  • BBQ breakfast
  •  La Tortilliera Mexican tamales
  • Coffee van for your morning fix

I would highly recommend the Elwood Farmers’ Market to anyone passing through. It has great produce and a lovely community feel.
