Eildon Community Op Shop – Eildon

This little Op Shop isn’t as little as you think. The volunteers have done a great job of sorting and organising items into categories and there are nooks and crannies everywhere that you’ll find treasure. fullsizerender_1The day I visited I was after an old t-shirt for a student on a camping program and there were plenty to choose from. He chose a groovy surf one and it cost all of $2. The staff were helpful and the range was actually extensive. Almost too much stock.

There are some items like VHS tapes that are plentiful on the shelves but I wonder how long they’ve been there as most people use other methods of viewing movies these days. Of course, I’m sure some of the local holiday homes still have VHS but frankly, you couldn’t give them away in Melbourne.

This place is hopping during holiday season as holiday makers realise they need a fitted sheet, spatula, salad bowl, runners, magazines and more. It’s also the place where people selling their holiday homes drop off those extra items that they can’t use elsewhere so the turnover of stock is quite good.

I do wonder why our lovely senior people continue to crochet and knit booties because no one uses them anymore. It’s sweet to see and I know it brings them joy but they really aren’t popular with new parents these days. To see this display was lovely but it felt a little lonely and sad as I know people won’t buy them and all the hard work the makers put into them.
