Salvos Op Shop – Ringwood

These larger chain Op Shops I have a love/hate relationship with. On one hand I totally support their commitment to putting money back into the community but on the other hand it gripes me that they overprice things.

With my last review of a Salvos store in Geelong, I was hoping this one would be as stylish and beautifully presented with their stock but alas – it’s just another Salvo’s store.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good store but it’s a formula that appears in most of these stores and it’s somewhat predictable. I like the hunt. I like looking and sifting for the treasure. But that’s me. Others like to go into a store with a purpose in mind e.g. buying some glassware and ta da – they are happy with this sort of layout.

Sometimes in Op Shops you get new stock such as the above. Baffled about this. To me it breaches the essence of what an Op Shop is.

Love the colour layout. Always. Green here…..

And then blue……

Books galore. Magazines galore. This is worth trolling through for some holiday reading. Hardbacks, paperbacks and more.

Items are by colour and the range is excellent from business to casual wear. How do you feel about putting items in colour? I’d prefer in size (then colour within size).

Blast from my past. Glomesh purse and small handbag. I used to have one of these and thought I was a truly modern woman.

Lots of baby clothes. Why would anyone buy new baby clothes when they are so many in Op Shops. In fact, the staff often will just send them off as rags because they have so many. They just don’t wear out – get grubby but not wear out.

These signs are in a number of the stores I’ve visited and are a nice reminder of the good work that the Salvation Army do.

The staff are lovely and can help you’re after anything in particular. And of course, they always like a chat and a hello.
