You can’t miss this place because it’s so big and the front garden is full of vegetables, bike rims and signs that direct you where to go within the complex.
This is a Church and has a front and rear section. The front houses the clothing and odds and sods whereas the rear has the kitchen ware, furniture, books, records and so on. It’s a large space and plenty to scrounge through.
I’m personally not into retro or vintage clothing for myself but do love it when I see someone who carries it off well. Many of those folk come here – to Hunter Gatherer in Fitzroy.
This place is jammed with the most amazing array of clothes from boots, pants, skirts, dresses, hats, gloves, bags and more. For the guys you will be able to find nice fat ties, cravats, blazers and the occasional pointy toed shoes.
This is an interesting Salvos Shop. It follows the usual formula of the Salvo’s chain but it does have a lovely warm feeling – perhaps it’s the lovely staff.
The displays were good like these shoes in colours with men’s and women’s separate. I always appreciate the effort that staff put in to make items look more appealing and attractive. (more…)
The Camberwell Fresh Food Market is an integral part of the Camberwell Village shopping experience. Located in the centre of Camberwell you’ll find organic fruit and vegetables plus a large range of fresh fish, meat and poultry. Bonus – the most stunning flowers are available – do love my hydrangea.
Interesting facts: Where the market is on was originally a horse carriage factory and in the 1930’s became a produce market, servicing the market growers of the area. In 1992 a serious fire damaged most of the market, during the repairs the stall holders traded from a temporary premises. The site was also refurbished in 2002.
Many stall holders are second and third generation family run business and still trade in the traditional style marketing.
In December 2004 two new mosaics were made by Helen Bodycomb and René Schaefer were installed in the market and add a colourful entrance to the market.
