Mark Denver Antiques and Vintage

Antique and Vintage shopping doesn’t get much better than this when two stores of the same name are located only 150m apart in the same street.

Filled with art deco, industrial furniture, antiques, curious, decorative items, quirky and eclectic wares and of course, the ever quirky pieces like the lioness leaping in a full glass cabinet.

The owners and creators of these amazing places are Mark and Jennifer who clearly have an excellent eye for those unusual and sort-after items. It takes talent to sources such interesting pieces that are not only quirky but of good quality and would offer a lot if you have some providence about where the piece came from e.g. an old bakery, aged care facility, drama studio and so on.

The two stores are different in subtle ways. At 437 you can weave your way through taxidermy items, theatre props, medical and scientific instruments, maps and posters. Whereas in the larger new store at 407 there are more industrial items such as chairs, lighting, garden ware, workbenches and more. In this store you will walk around going ‘I used to have one of those’ or ‘my grandmother had one of those’.

The stores are well haunted by designers and stylists who are looking for props for their business in film and movie production as well as photos shoots.

I found the prices reasonable but of course, for those rarer items you can expect to pay more. If you’re after something in particular, feel free to ask the staff. Jennifer at 437 was very helpful when we chatted and clearly loves the treasures she is surrounded by.

Both are within easy walking distance, being only 150 metres apart making the entire Mark Denver experience easily accessible.

Each store has unique items, so it a must to visit both stores when you come to Brunswick Street.

Always wanted a skeleton to hang behind a door. This one isn’t real but captivates the eye.

I have a thing about shelving so this piece above had me intrigued about where I could put it in my home or for that matter – fit it into my home.

Cute little display of an apartment block or offices.

Jesus is always watching you. This would freak me out more than the skeleton.
