Travelling Owl Project

The Travelling Owl Project started in March 2014 to bring awareness to people on the plight of the Boobook Owl who are down to 50 breeding pairs here in the state of Victoria.

I made 50 palm sized owls, each with elastic (so you could hang or attach them to something), individually numbered with a special card attached with a description and call to action.

They were released individually across my town of Warrandyte but also in parts of Melbourne – cafes, libraries, department store, bakeries, even Tullamarine airport.

One by one the owls were picked up by their lucky new owners and as they went on their travels around the world people posted pictures on my Facebook page:

So far there are owls on every continent. If you come across one, please leave a comment on location and number of the travelling owl either on this blog or on the links above.

If you’re the owner of one, share your pictures, location and number here so we can see how those little owls are travelling….
